CUSTOM CIVILIZATIONS
Scandinavians
Vietnamese
The Scandinavians start off as Vikings, with their fierce Viking Raiders and Hornbowmen. Later being able to choose between two different factions, The Swedish Empire or The Kingdom of Denmark-Norway. Each Kingdom holds nation specific powerful technological or military options, allowing for a high amount of variety as well as giving them possibilities to nearly all strategies.
The Dai Viet were famous for their defensive wars of attrition against the Chinese and the Mongols. In Age of Empires IV the Vietnamese put a unique twist on the defensive faction archetype, relying on asymmetrical warfare to wear down their foes. Worker Elephants allow Villagers to move from resource to resource quickly, while Hideouts, Traps, and Poisoned Arrows can be used to secure map control. This helps set up for a strong late game centered around powerful gunpowder units.
Poland
Persia
The Polish civilization has the ability to choose between four landmarks. Each age they can choose one of the four, leaving the non selected behind. Emphasizing powerful cavalry units and resilient fortifications. Known for their elite Winged Hussars and strong economic growth, they offer a balanced approach to both offence and defence and are there for relatively easy to play. Their unique landmark choices provide access to many different strategies, both offence, and defence.
The collapse of the Sassanian Empire saw Persia fall into disunity for over 700 years. Yet, in spite of its fractionalization, Persian culture, language, and martial traditions continued to foster and grow. In Age of Empires IV, the Persian civilization represents the various medieval dynasties, both native and foreign, that ruled over the region of “Ērān.” In-game, Persia sports a powerful economy, with an emphasis on trade and flexibility. In combat, this is THE “counter” civ, with units that are weaker at a base level, but much more effective against their counters.
Scotland
Crusader State
The Kingdom of Scotland serves as a mighty naval powerhouse, capable of stablishing a prosperous early fishing economy whilst ensuring that the defenses also contribute to the economy. In the land they are also formidable, their raiding ease makes them a feared opponent, forcing those who must fight against them to be cautelous of weak spots that could be exploited. When it comes to defending, the scots are like no other in Age Of Empires IV, highlanders and lowlanders contribute to a sharp defense, while these units might be slow, their combat capabilities are unmatched, easily dispatching anything that comes near them.
Deus Vult! The righteous and the faithful from all corners of Christendom have joined forces to turn the tide against its heathen foes. The “Crusader States”, or Outremer, represent an amalgamation of the kingdoms and principalities that formed out of the Holy Land Crusades. In AOEIV this is a civilization that relies on external “reinforcements” to supplement their army and create massive power spikes.
